Easy Check-in for Domestic Flights from December 1st!
For frequent flyers on domestic routes who only travel with hand luggage, this is fantastic news! Starting December 1st, 2025, passengers will be able to check in themselves without needing to visit the airline counter. Instead, there are three super quick and convenient options:
1. Check-in via VNeID App (Biometric FaceID Boarding)
This is a game-changer for those who value speed and minimal hassle. If you're already using VNeID with identity level 2, you're all set.
- Install the VNeID app (identity level 2).
- Navigate to: Other Services → Aviation Services → Online Check-in.
- Enter your booking code and full name. Agree to data sharing, and the system will seamlessly transfer you to your airline's app.
- Complete eKYC by taking a photo of your face for verification.
- Once successful, upon arrival at the airport, you'll simply scan your face at the security gate and the boarding gate – no need to present your ID card or passport!
Currently Applicable at: Noi Bai, Da Nang, Tan Son Nhat airports.
Airlines Included: Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Vasco, and Vietjet Air.
Pros: Fast, efficient, and you don't need to carry multiple documents.
Cons: If there are system glitches, you'll still need to show your ID card or passport.
2. Check-in on Airline Website or App
This is the familiar route for many, offering flexibility right from your device.
- Visit the airline's website or open their app.
- Enter your booking code and passenger's last name.
- Select your flight and choose your seat. The system assigns a free seat by default, but you can pay to select a different one.
- After confirmation, download your boarding pass to your phone or print it out.
- At the airport:
- If you only have a standard boarding pass, you'll still need to show your ID card or passport at security.
- If you've completed eKYC within the airline's app, you can use FaceID Boarding just like with VNeID, no physical documents required.
Pros: Familiar, easy to use, and can be done remotely.
Cons: You'll still need to present your documents if you haven't completed eKYC.
3. Check-in at Airport Kiosks
For those who prefer a physical step-by-step process right at the airport, the self-service kiosks are a great option.
- Head to the airline's self-service kiosk area, usually located near the check-in counters.
- Select your preferred language and enter your booking code, ticket number, or membership ID.
- Choose the passenger(s) you're checking in for and select your seats.
- You can also purchase additional baggage or meals if needed.
- Print your boarding pass directly from the kiosk.
- You can then proceed directly to security, though you'll still need to show your ID card or passport.
Kiosk Check-in Times:
- Domestic flights: from 6 hours to 45 minutes before departure.
- International flights: from 6 hours to 60 minutes before departure.
Cases Where Kiosk Check-in May Not Be Available:
- Travelling with infants under 2 years old.
- Group bookings of 4 or more passengers (domestic flights).
- Passengers requiring special services or needing to verify information.
Important Reminders
To ensure a smooth travel experience, remember these key points:
- Always update your VNeID and airline apps to the latest versions.
- Keep your ID card or passport with you at all times as a backup in case of system issues.
- The FaceID Boarding technology is currently available at three major airports: Noi Bai, Da Nang, and Tan Son Nhat.
- When going through security, if you've successfully checked in and completed eKYC, you can proceed directly, bypassing long queues at the counter.
