Packing List for Your Swiss Summer Holiday
1. Clothing
Pack light and breezy summer clothes for your trip. Think thin, breathable fabrics. To beat the heat, consider bringing a sun jacket, umbrella, a wide-brimmed hat, and a face mask.
Summer evenings can bring surprise showers, so pack a raincoat or waterproof windbreaker too.
2. Swimwear
Swimming in natural lakes and rivers is a popular activity in Switzerland during the summer months. The water is so clear and clean!
Public swimming areas are typically spacious, with clean toilet facilities and stunning mountain views.
Entry usually costs around 6-8 CHF for adults, and it's free for children under 6. Think about adding this to your summer itinerary!
3. Sunscreen
The Swiss sun can be surprisingly intense. Even a short walk can leave your skin feeling burnt, especially at higher altitudes near snow. Reapply sunscreen often for maximum protection.
4. Comfortable Shoes
Switzerland has a fantastic public transport system. But towns and villages can be quite small and hilly. Walking between attractions is often the best way to explore.
Unlike walking in Malaysia, the air in Switzerland is fresh and clean. A little walk, followed by a deep breath of mountain air, can be very refreshing!
5. Cash
While cards and e-wallets are widely accepted in Switzerland, it's wise to carry some cash for public toilets at train stations (some major stations like Luzern charge a small fee).
Cash is also commonly used at weekend markets. If you're visiting a larger Swiss city on a Saturday, make time for the morning market. You'll find fresh goodies like bread, fruit, flowers, meat, and fish there.
