Hunting Down Tibetan MoMo in Saigon, Just Like in Malaysia
Finding Authentic MoMo: A Rare Treat in Vietnam
Seriously, finding a restaurant specializing in MoMo, that delightful Tibetan dumpling, in Saigon is like searching for durian in the Arctic. Finding one actually run by someone from Tibet? Even rarer!
I stumbled upon OmMoMo while yearning for my days in Dharamshala, where I first fell in love with MoMo.
MoMo: A Himalayan Delight
Think of MoMo as the "Dim Sum of the Himalayas". It's a MUST-TRY when you're in Northern India 🇮🇳 like Dharamshala or Ladakh, or in Tibet, Nepal, or Bhutan. From my experience eating countless MoMos in Dharamshala, the wrapper isn't too thick, thin, or chewy like typical Asian dumplings. It's perfectly pliable, holding a filling of yak meat, chicken, mushrooms, or vegetables. Each ingredient shines, and a little broth nestles inside, mingling with a sauce that's both Indian and Tibetan (my culinary knowledge can't quite describe it 🤣)… it's simply AMAZING ✨
OmMoMo: A Taste of Tibet in Saigon
OmMoMo's vibe is reminiscent of those eateries run by Tibetans I found in Dharamshala. Beyond MoMo, they have stir-fried beef, various MoMo fillings, and unique desserts, especially the Tibetan Rose Panna Cotta (savor it slowly to truly appreciate it 🙂↔️). The owner, who is also the chef, is authentically Tibetan! The atmosphere and staff are incredibly warm and welcoming.
A Perfect Spot for Dates and Gatherings
If you're searching for a unique date spot or a place for a group outing, OmMoMo offers a fresh experience and a taste of home for those who've already tasted the magic of MoMo. Perfect for those seeking a new food adventure in Vietnam!
