The Shore Hotel & Residences Melaka: My Staycation Experience!

My Trip Details

Check-in: 8 June 2025
Check-out: 9 June 2025
Room: Studio Suites (40m²)
Price: RM127.32 (breakfast x 2 pax) + RM4.00 (heritage fee)
Platform: Trip.com

Parking: Definitely Convenient! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Just follow the arrows directing you to the hotel parking.
  • They use a plate number recognition system, which is quite modern.
  • Levels 3A & 3B are paid parking at RM10/stay.
  • But levels 7 & 8 offer complementary parking for hotel guests, so aim for those!
  • The space is wide enough for easy maneuvering, even when driving up to the higher levels.

Check-in: Smooth & Easy ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • When you enter level 3A, you'll spot the Hibiscus Grand Ballroom. The Shore Hotel's direction is on the left, and Swiss Garden Hotel is on the right.
  • This hotel shares a building with The Shore Mall and residential units. Pretty convenient!
  • You need to take the lift down to level G to check in at the hotel lobby.
  • Let the receptionist know which level you parked on and your plate number. Pay the RM10 fee if you parked on levels 3A & 3B.
  • Don't forget to pay the RM4/night for the Melaka heritage fee.
  • The lobby isn't huge, but it's well-lit, and the staff are super helpful.
  • You'll get 2 access cards.
  • Right in front of the lobby is the hotel's cafe (Quay River Cafe).

The Room: Spacious & Worth It! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️

  • The room is seriously spacious, especially considering the price. Worth every ringgit!
  • There are 2 single beds (easily fits 2 small kids since they're quite wide) and a sofa bed.
  • The balcony faces Melaka city, the river cruise route, and the Straits of Melaka (depends on your room's location, of course!). The view is stunning.
  • You get an electric kettle, tea, coffee, an iron, an ironing board, and even an induction kitchen (didn't test if it works, though).
  • The TV has basic channels and lots of radio stations. No Netflix, unfortunately.

Bathroom: Spacious, But... ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • The bathroom is spacious, with a partition separating the toilet and shower areas.
  • There's a water tap. No bidet, though.
  • The only downside is the frosted glass wall. You have to switch off the bathroom light (the lighting is dim because the top part of the glass isn't frosted) to avoid seeing shadows. That's my only negative point for this room.
  • Dental kit, shampoo & bath foam are provided.

Breakfast: Loads of Choices! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • The food has so many options! Chicken slices, chicken sausages, baked beans, bread pudding + vanilla sauce, fried loh see fun (like a short version of laksa), laksa nyonya, nasi lemak, porridge + condiments, egg station, croissants, bread, jam, butter, coffee machine, teh o, 2 types of fruit, sliced cheese, pau, roti prata, dhal curry. Totally worth the price, in my opinion.
  • Breakfast add-on price: RM35/adult, RM29/child (5-12 years old). Pay at the receptionist counter.
  • Breakfast time: 7.00am-12.00pm
  • The cafe isn't very big. You might have to queue during peak hours.

Pool: A Mini Waterpark! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Located on level 9.
  • Super kids friendly, like a mini waterpark. Spacious and great for kids to swim in.
  • The landscaping is beautiful and well-maintained.
  • There's a gym above the pool.
  • You'll also find a fenced basketball court near the swimming pool.
  • The indoor adult pool (under maintenance) is on the same level.

Check-out: Super Easy! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • A breeze! Just give the access cards to the receptionist.

Overall: A Great Melaka Getaway! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'm giving my staycation here 4.5 stars. If the bathroom didn't have the frosted glass, it would have been perfect. The location within the mall and the spa on level 3A are a plus. Its location in the city center is close to the tourist area which makes it convenient.
