My Must-Order Dishes at This French Bistro in Saigon
Four dishes I always go for whenever I visit this restaurant:
-
Beef Tartare (VND 490,000)
The most substantial portion of French beef tartare I've ever had in Saigon. A generous 150g served with crispy fries and a flavourful sauce. The magic lies in how the ingredients blend so that you don't feel like you're eating raw beef but still get to savor its inherent deliciousness. A tartare masterpiece in both presentation and taste!
-
"Rice" with Scallops (VND 590,000)
A French bistro creation that visually resembles Italian risotto. The "rice" is easy to enjoy, with a subtle buttery aroma that complements the scallops perfectly. They're a match made in heaven.
-
French Snails (Escargots) (VND 295,000)
A classic appetizer that's almost mandatory.
-
"Jumbo" Prawn Rice (VND 550,000)
Another masterpiece from this restaurant. Large tiger prawns are grilled and served with fragrant pilaf rice and an incredibly delicious sauce. You'll want to scrape every last grain from the plate.
This place seems to have elevated French bistro cuisine. It's no longer in the usual VND 200,000 - VND 300,000 price range; expect to spend VND 500,000 or more per person. Having eaten at several 1-Michelin-star restaurants in Southeast Asia, I think this is one of the few French restaurants in Saigon that comes closest to that standard, or at least deserves a spot in the Bib Gourmand category. Overall, it's more than worth the money!
