My Spontaneous Bali Adventure: A 4D3N Itinerary
I went on a solo trip, exploring Bali's popular spots based on my own plan. I visited the places that interested me, arranging the route for easy travel.
You'll find the breakdown of my Bali cost at the end!
Before leaving Malaysia, I got myself an eSIM and exchanged my Ringgit to Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
Day 1: Arrival in Ubud
Landed at the airport around 4:30 PM. Immigration was pretty fast, just a few simple questions about my trip like "Where are you going?", "Who are you travelling with?" and "How long will you be staying?".
I pre-booked a car to my Ubud resort. It was a little pricey, but I booked it anyway because the reviews looked good. Actually, you can just order a Grab car – it's way cheaper!
Checked into Pitamaha Resort in Ubud around 8:00 PM. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
Day 2: Resort Life and Fairytale Dining
The resort itself was so beautiful that I spent the day exploring the grounds and taking photos. Later, I visited Wedja Restaurant, a popular spot in Ubud that felt like a fairytale.
Day 3: Nusa Penida Tour Mishap & Ayana Bliss
Woke up early at 4:00 AM to get ready for my Nusa Penida tour. I checked out around 6:10 AM, but the process took a while, so it was closer to 6:30 AM when I finally left. The drive to the harbor took about two hours.
The local tour guide, who was also the driver, bought the ferry tickets, but we were running a bit late. I boarded the fast boat around 8:30 or 9:00 AM, and the ride was over an hour. I arrived at Nusa Penida, and moving towards Kelingking Beach (the T-Rex viewpoint) took until 11:00 AM! The lines for photos were insane, and I even tipped someone 100 IDR to cut the line! I wanted to go to Kelingking Beach, but the driver said there wasn't enough time because it would take 40 minutes to get there, and I'd miss my ferry. So, I spent 2000 IDR and only managed to visit one spot.
Travel tip: If you're planning a Nusa Penida tour, dedicate an entire day to it. There are so many beautiful spots, but the crowds can be crazy, and you'll spend a lot of time queueing.
At 3:30 PM, I checked into the super-famous Ayana Bali Resort! This resort is massive and gorgeous. You should definitely stay there at least once when you're in Bali!
After settling in, I went to Rock Bar, located within the resort, around 5:30 PM. It was absolutely amazing and a must-try!
Day 4: Beach Bliss and Departure
Woke up early, dolled myself up and explored the Kubu area (a stunning beach) within the resort. To get to the beach, you have to take a lift – so relaxing!
Ayana has three restaurants for breakfast.
After exploring the beach, I packed and checked out at 12:00 PM.
Around 1:00 PM, I drove to the airport which took about 50 minutes. And then, it was time to go back to Malaysia.
Food
I mostly ate at the resorts, and the food was consistently delicious and easy to enjoy.
Final Thoughts on Bali
Four days and three nights were definitely not enough to explore everything. My Bali experience was of a beautiful island with amazing scenery, reasonable prices, friendly and helpful locals, and delicious food. It's totally worth visiting!
