Cambodia Makes Top Global Travel Destinations for 2026
Amidst recent reports of abductions and online scams affecting travelers from South Korea and other Southeast Asian nations, a surprising and welcome development has emerged. Siem Reap has been featured in Lonely Planet's highly anticipated Best in Travel 2026 list, recognizing it among 50 of the world's most inspiring destinations and experiences for the coming year.
The Khmer Times highlighted this achievement, stating that Siem Reap, often referred to as Cambodia's cultural capital, has solidified its growing standing on the global tourism map.
Announced on October 22nd, this year's list celebrates destinations that are rich in culture, committed to sustainability, and offer deeply meaningful travel experiences. Siem Reap stands alongside other distinguished locations such as Sardinia in Italy, Maine in the USA, Ikara-Flinders Ranges in Australia, and Quy Nhon in Vietnam. This marks the 16th consecutive year Lonely Planet has released this prestigious ranking.
